The first time I heard about this guy Simon Sinek was from a Ted Talk video “Start with Why”. I reposted it on my Facebook account. Months after, my friend text me and said that the video I shared inspired him a lot and changed his way of thinking upon lots of decision he made throughout both his career and personal life.
That’s when I looked up Simon Sinek and start reading his book. “Start with Why”. It’s such an amazing read. Not to mentioned that he written in a way that is very straight to the point and have given lots of easy to related examples. I was very inspired and found myself in tears (aka: I know. Why are you in tears for reading an entrepreneur book? ) I was very touched with his good intentions for being an entrepreneur who truly think and feel in the customers and staffs he served.
If you are someone who hit the bottom of your career and entrepreneur life; someone who love to contribute to the world; someone who want to figure out how to better present yourself and your business, this is the book for you.
Have a read of the following quote that I found have touched my heart. Get a feeling whether this is YOUR book. You are very welcome to share your thoughts and experience below of how this book has inspired and contributed to you.
“There are only two ways to influence human behavior: you can manipulate it or you can inspire it.”
“I always joke that you can get someone to buy a gym membership with an aspirational message, but to get them to go three days a week requires a bit of inspiration.”
“There is a big difference between repeat business and loyalty. Repeat business is when people do business with you multiple times. Loyalty is when people are willing to turn down a better product or a better price to continue doing business with you.”
“WHY: Very few people or companies can clearly articulate WHY they do WHAT they do. When I say WHY, I don’t mean to make money - that’s a result. By WHY I mean what is your purpose, cause or belief? WHY does your company exist? WHY do you get out of bed every morning? And WHY should anyone care?”
“It’s worth repeating: people don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it.”
“We are drawn to leaders and organizations that are good at communicating what they believe. Their ability to make us feel like we belong, to make us feel special, safe and not alone is party of what gives them the ability to inspire us.”
“Authenticity cannot be achieved without clarity of WHY. And authenticity matters.”
“Products are not just symbols of what the company believes, they also serve as symbols of what the loyal buyers believe.”
“Almost every person on the planet is passionate, we are just not all passionate for the same things.”
